Jackie Babineau’s support of The Jungle Farm goes above and beyond, to the point where she is now the delivery spot in Calgary for people who want Jungle Farm produce without leaving the city.
“The Jungle Farm is my happy place and I just want to share their wonderful product with others,” said Jackie, who has been a part of The Jungle Farm for several years. “It all started with the strawberries – I wanted to make jam and also to have a u-pick experience with my kids when they were little. Now they are 20 and 17 years old, and they still drive up to The Jungle Farm with me each week to pick up salad boxes and veggie boxes, and we still u-pick many times in the summer.”
In fact, both her daughters have had part time jobs at the Innisfail Growers farmers’ markets in Calgary, in which The Jungle Farm is a partner.
“The whole family has been involved. We start with planting flower baskets each spring and I get tons of compliments on them all summer. And then the produce starts, and the weekly boxes just get bigger and bigger as the growing season advances. The veggie boxes are so reasonable and it comes straight from the ground into the box, which I love. Then you can maximize your money even more by u-picking your own when you’re there, which I also do for the others in Calgary while I’m picking their boxes up,” said Jackie.
“It’s awesome to walk through the farm and feel one with nature, and being one with your food. I just love fresh veggies, that they’re local and they’re family grown. I have introduced so many others to The Jungle Farm and now it means a lot to many people. I’ve had people ask if I’m part owner of The Jungle Farm because I promote it so much! My motivation is that I love community-supported agriculture, and I appreciate Leona’s information that shows how the food is grown. Leona and Blaine, and their whole family, are amazing and I’m glad to be part of it.”
Jackie is happy to add more Calgary people to her Jungle Farm delivery service. She picks up the vegetable boxes each Thursday and drives them to her northwest Huntington Hills home, where people then come to pick them up.
Anyone interested in fresh Jungle Farm veggie boxes being driven into Calgary for them each week can email Leona at [email protected] and she will connect you with Jackie.
